Special Note from Adrianne
March 25, 2024
You guys……it’s season 10. Can you believe it?
Now, if you're an OG listener, welcome back, my fellow bedside buddies! And if you're new here, welcome and hold on tight. I'm Adrianne, an eight-year veteran in the nursing trenches, your resident truth-teller, and the fearless solo producer of this show for the past seven years. Yep, you heard that right – seven years of talking to tons of nurses, some doctors, students, and a bunch of other awesome people in the healthcare universe.
Now, you might be wondering where I've been. Well, y’all, I took a little hiatus – a nurse's gotta refill that cup and sometimes it takes a while? I'm back, and I've got a stethoscope full of fresh, exciting content just for you.
This season, we're shining the spotlight on some of the most intriguing nurses out there. These are the unsung heroes with stories that will leave you inspired, amazed, and maybe a little bit incredulous. We're also diving headfirst into those topics that might be whispered in the break room but rarely spoken about openly in the nursing community.
Get ready for conversations that peel back the layers of our profession – the good, the challenging, and the downright absurd.
We're not holding anything back because here at Nursing Uncensored, we believe in keeping it real.
So, whether you're a seasoned nurse, a nursing student, or just nursing a curiosity about the world of scrubs and stethoscopes, this is your space. Let's laugh together, learn together, and, most importantly, let's lift each other up.I'm thrilled to have you along for the ride, and I promise, this season is going to be like nothing you've heard before. Welcome to Nursing Uncensored – where the scrubs are real, the stories are uncensored, and the laughter is the best medicine.
Night Shift Myths: Throwback Episode ft. Andrew Craig
Andrew and Adrianne talk about common myths held about nurses working the night shift. Night nurses can’t help but cringe when folks say to us “you must love how quiet night shift is, with all the patients sleeping”. Um, not exactly.
Night Shift Brain Fog
Andrew and Adrianne are both caught in The Fog as they record this episode about The Fog itself, series of intoxication-like symptoms that occur after working several nights in a row. They also go on a tangent about hourly rounding and bed alarms, and Andrew confesses his lack of trust in a certain group of people. Nurse's Top 10 Tips for Better Daytime Sleep: NU Quickie #2
Adrianne, nurse, and night-shifter for more than a decade, has just crawled into bed after a long shift...so this is real and unedited information in her most honest, exhausted state. She lists* 10 ProTips for getting better daytime sleep and elaborates on the interesting ones.
Night Shift Breakfast: A Ritual
The Nursing Uncensored crew talks about what Nightshift Breakfast means to them and why it's such a right of passage for 3rd shifters. Adrianne explains to Andrew that "gravy was never sexy", there's talk of pop songs, snorting anti-lipemics (don't EVER do this), and then it all crashes to an end with a tale of Adrianne's first SICU float.
